Payroll Manager

Essential Functions:

  • Manage all payroll operations, including oversight of the commission and payroll processing teams.
  • Lead end-to-end weekly and biweekly payroll cycles across 95+ multi-state locations.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee payroll system administration, including system updates, configuration changes, and system integrations.
  • Maintain multi-state payroll compliance, including tax filings, garnishments, deductions, and benefit-related integrations.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of the payroll reports, general ledger entries, and payroll-related accruals.
  • Oversee accurate year-end processing, including preparation and issuance of W-2s and related compliance reporting.
  • Administer and manage ADP Validation Tables and ADP Security Management controls.
  • Serve as the primary payroll subject matter expert for managers and leaders across the organization.
  • Provide high-touch, responsive support to field leaders.
  • Develop tools, guides, and training materials.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and field teams to ensure seamless employee lifecycle payroll processing.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve payroll processes.
  • Identify automation opportunities and system enhancements.
  • Strengthen internal controls and documentation.
  • Lead or support payroll-related system implementations and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with all wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes impacting payroll operations.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
  • Experience managing payroll in a complex, multi-location, multi-state environment.
  • Experience overseeing both weekly and biweekly payroll cycles.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience with payroll system implementations and/or upgrades
  • Experience with ADP WFN

Work Environment:

Spends most of the time at an office setting, with exposure to moderate noise.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally required to kneel or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
