This position supports regular staff as needed and helps ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming cafeteria environment while following all food safety and district guidelines.Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Assist with food preparation, serving, and portioning meals according to established menus* Operate cafeteria equipment safely (ovens, warmers, dishwashers, etc.)* Serve meals to students in a courteous and professional manner* Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving lines, dining areas, and storage spaces* Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment* Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times* Assist with inventory, stocking, and storage of food and supplies* Work cooperatively with cafeteria staff and school personnel* Supervise students during meal service as neededQualifications* High school diploma or GED preferred* Previous food service experience helpful but not required* Food Handler Certification it's required* Ability to work well with children and staff* Knowledge of basic food safety practices (training often provided)Physical Requirements* Ability to stand for extended periods* Ability to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds* Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as requiredWork Schedule* On-call / as-needed basis* Typically during school hoursWork Environment* School cafeteria and kitchen setting* Exposure to heat, cold, and kitchen equipment
