Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three years of full-time experience as a billable Medical paralegal. Candidates must be self-motivated, committed to excellence in the workplace, and have excellent attention to detail. Candidates must also have demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, and candidates must be proficient in the use of MS Office and database applications such as Imanage.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining attorney calendars and schedules; working with court staff to obtain hearing dates and trial schedules.
Drafting documents such as pleadings, discovery and correspondence.
Electronic filing/e-service of pleadings and discovery.
Prepare responsive production documents to discovery and/or subpoenas.
Correspond with expert witnesses and research regarding the same using Westlaw.
Assist attorney in preparation of hearings and upcoming depositions.
Summarize records and reports such as depositions, medical records, internal documents and incoming discovery.
Maintain organized and thorough documentation for every case.
Obtain, review and analyze documents, including medical records.
Prepare for trial by preparing trial notebooks, exhibits, and witness files.
Compile evidence and supporting information by searching records, discovery documents, transcripts, libraries and databases.
Take initiative in order to meet client and customer needs.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Superior verbal and written communication skills including excellent proofreading skills.
Ability to effectively interact and communicate with others, both externally and internally all organizational levels and locations.
Strong ability to multi-task; high level of time-management skills.
Attentive to details with good follow through and follow up, possess the ability to anticipate what needs to be done.
Ability to maintain a customer/client focus and build rapport with others inside and outside the firm. High level of professionalism; maintain confidential information.
Trial preparation experience is preferred.
