Houston Public Works (HPW) is seeking an Electrician who researches and analyzes causes of electrical failures; repairs, replaces and installs new equipment/components and related hardware to maximize functionality. This position will also be responsible for the following:
The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) on a frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier 1 Level.
Preference will be given to the candidate with four (4) years of verifiable electrical apprentice program, PLC experience and a State of Texas Journeymen License. Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
The selection process will involve application review and/or interview. The department may administer skills assessment test. YES - If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test. Pay Grade: 18.
