Description:

Title: Senior Metallurgical & Welding Engineer (Advanced Manufacturing)

Location: Greater Houston Area

Work Environment: Shop-Floor Focused | Hands-On Engineering

We're partnered with a growing industrial manufacturing organization that's making significant investments in expanding its in-house engineering and production capabilities. This is a build-oriented environment where engineering has a direct impact on the shop floor, process efficiency, and overall product quality.

This role is centered around metallurgical and welding engineering, with the opportunity to expand into coatings and surface technologies for the right individual.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serve as a shop-floor metallurgical SME, supporting manufacturing, repair, and production teams
  • Drive material selection decisions across nickel alloys, stainless steels, and other high-spec materials
  • Develop and optimize welding procedures, including automation and robotic welding processes
  • Support and refine heat treatment processes to ensure performance, durability, and compliance
  • Troubleshoot material, weld, and process-related issues in a hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Partner with engineering and operations to improve process consistency, throughput, and quality

What They're Looking For

  • Strong background in metallurgy and welding engineering within a manufacturing or repair environment
  • Hands-on experience with nickel alloys and stainless steels
  • Proven work in heat treatment, welding procedures, and process optimization
  • Exposure to shop-floor operations (this is not a purely theoretical role)
  • Experience with automation, robotics, or process improvement initiatives is a plus

Why This Role

  • Highly visible role with direct impact on production and engineering strategy
  • Significant investment in equipment, automation, and process capability expansion
  • Opportunity to shape both metallurgical and coating capabilities in a growing organization
  • Collaborative, hands-on environment — engineers are close to the product and the process

The team is also looking for: (2nd role)

The team is also investing heavily in coating and surface technology capabilities. While not required, there is strong interest in individuals who bring experience in:

  • HVOF / HVAF, plasma spray, or other thermal coating processes
  • Coating procedure development and optimization
  • Robotic or automated coating applications
  • Pre- and post-coating process integration within manufacturing workflows
