Zurich North America's Staff Legal Office is currently hiring a Paralegal II, General Liability to join their team! Under the supervision of an attorney, the successful candidate's work will be in support of moderate to complex liability litigation cases (e.g. case work, research, discovery responses, subpoenas, etc.).At Zurich North America we acknowledge that work life-balance and flexibility are a priority when it comes to choosing your next career move. While our model provides a high level of flexibility and autonomy, occasional circumstances requiring in-office attendance should be expected.This is a hybrid work position; however, the candidate selected for this opportunity should be able to report into one of the following North American office locations: Dallas, TX or Houston, TX.In this role you will be responsible for:Providing legal support to up to 2-3 attorneysDrafting legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directedProviding legal support such as legal and documentary researchMonitoring case schedules and filing deadlinesConducting interviews, summarizing depositions, medical recordsPreparing discovery requests and responsesAssisting in trial preparationResponding to inquiries from and interacting with customers, clients, counsel, and witnessesKeeping track of billable hours.Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation, electronicallyContributing to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as neededBasic Qualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal SupportAssociate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal Support areaExperience conducting electronic database researchExperience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadingsExperience in legal supportExperience with Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's DegreeE-Filing ExperienceInsurance Defense experienceAbility to effectively conduct electronic database research, including Lexus NexisMicrosoft 365 Office, strong computer skills in Windows 10Comfortable working in a paperless work environmentStrong communication & writing skills.Be able to work independentlyExperience with direct client contactExperience assisting with exhibits in trialComfortable working in a remote & an office environment.CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP) or PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)Certified Paralegal (CP) or Professional Paralegal (PP)Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases.
