HVAC Test Technician (Test Stand) – Commercial HVAC | $30–$35/hr + OT | North Houston

Clayton Services is searching for an HVAC Test Technician (Test Stand) to join a high-growth manufacturing operation in North Houston

This role is built for technicians with commercial HVAC experience only—especially those who have worked with large-scale systems, chillers, or packaged units in a test lab or production environment

If you've worked with manufacturers like Daikin, Trane, Goodman, Carrier, or similar—and have hands-on experience running test stands or performance testing HVAC units—this is a strong opportunity.

Job Details:

• Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
• Pay Rate: $30.00 – $35.00/hour + overtime
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (weekend OT as needed)

What You'll Be Doing:

• Run functional and performance testing on commercial HVAC systems using test stands
• Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data collection systems
• Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures
• Troubleshoot failed units and identify root cause issues (mechanical + electrical)
• Record and analyze test data, pressures, temperatures, and flow rates
• Partner with engineering and production teams to resolve issues quickly
• Adjust and configure test setups based on engineering specs
• Ensure all units meet quality standards prior to shipment
• Perform routine calibration and maintenance on testing equipment

What They're Looking For:

• Commercial HVAC experience required (no residential-only backgrounds)
• Experience testing chillers, large tonnage units, or commercial systems
• Hands-on work with test stands, lab environments, or manufacturing testing
• Strong understanding of HVAC system performance metrics (pressure, temp, flow)
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical failures
• Comfortable using gauges, meters, and diagnostic tools
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is highly preferred

Background:

• 2+ years of HVAC testing, lab testing, or related mechanical experience
• Technical training or HVAC certification preferred
• Experience with major manufacturers (Daikin, Trane, Carrier, Goodman, etc.) is a big plus

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass background check and drug screen
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods
