Public Safety Officer

Public Safety Officers are essential to maintaining security and supporting the mission of MD Anderson Cancer Center.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of relevant work experience, and a valid Texas driver's license. Preferred qualifications include International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to public safety.

Minimum $18.00 Midpoint $20.54 Maximum $23.08 per hour based on a 40-hour work week. This is a full-time position with rotating shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The primary work location is the MD Anderson Cancer Center campus in Northwest Houston at 9922 Louetta Rd. Houston, TX 77070.

Responsibilities Provide information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards Enforce institutional and parking regulations; issue permits and citations as needed Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act Respond to emergencies and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure Support institutional policies and ensure a safe environment for all individuals on campus

Requirements EDUCATION Required: High school diploma or equivalent WORK EXPERIENCE Required: One year of relevant work experience LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required: Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license Preferred: International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification OTHER REQUIREMENTS Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources
