Job Summary
The Driver Technician is responsible for the safe operation of a DOT-regulated vehicle to transport materials and equipment between locations. In addition to driving responsibilities, this role performs field service activities at customer sites, including troubleshooting and supporting mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems (based on business unit requirements).
This position requires strong problem-solving skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while interfacing directly with customers across multiple sites and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate DOT-regulated vehicles to transport equipment and materials
Perform field service activities at customer locations in a safe and efficient manner
Troubleshoot and support mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems as needed
Identify and resolve safety issues on both company and customer-owned equipment
Maintain a safe work environment and promote a strong safety culture
Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams
Protect and maintain company equipment and property
Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
Must be able to travel overnight as needed
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
Clean driving record
Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
Ability to obtain required customer clearances (e.g., TWIC, DISA)
Ability to obtain a valid passport and travel across borders if needed
Preferred Experience
0-2 years of technical experience (1+ year preferred)
Experience with mechanical, electrical, diesel, or related systems
Customer service experience
Skills & Competencies
Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile technology
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly
Ability to manage varying routes, including overnight and complex travel conditions
Understanding of load securement, weight distribution, and DOT requirements
