Part-Time Activities Assistant (3 days a week)

Calvin Community is nestled in the heart of Des Moines's Beaverdale neighborhood. Calvin Community is a not-for-profit senior living community focused onserving older adults in a caring, Christian Community designed to meet their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs and contribute to their health, security, and happiness. Calvin Community proudly provides high-quality, compassionate services in independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, long-term care, and memory support care for residents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Collaborate with the Activity Director to plan activities.
• Execute activities as assigned.
• Develop and display thematic/holiday decorations throughout the community as directed.
• Record and maintain resident activity daily.

COMPETENCIES:

• Must have experience working with an elderly population.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Experience with iPads and tablets.
• Be able to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative, and team-oriented culture.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Possess a strong customer service focus.
• Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule.
• Demonstrate tact, patience, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition when working with other employees, residents, and family members.

EDUCATION:

• Preferred Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field or combination of education and years of experience.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of six (6) months of related experience.
• Internships qualify to meet the experience threshold.
