Project Manager - Water, Wastewater & Water Resources

Location: Remote (travel to Massachusetts once per month for 2-3 days)

Compensation: $120,000-$160,000 base salary

Sign-On Bonus: $15,000

Role Overview

This position leads municipal water, wastewater, and water resources projects across planning, design, permitting, construction, and client management. The work includes treatment plants, pump and booster stations, water distribution systems, and complex hydraulic modeling assignments. This is a remote role with monthly travel to Massachusetts for project and client coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical staff on complex projects and provide technical reviews on plans, specifications, and calculations.
• Mentor and train junior engineers through project execution, seminars, and technical guidance.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables from initiation through completion.
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and project budgets.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary teams, subconsultants, and stakeholders.
• Ensure quality control and adherence to company standards for reports and presentations.
• Present technical information to clients and at public meetings.
• Track budgets, issue invoices, and maintain cost controls to maximize project profitability.
• Support business development, client meetings, proposal preparation, and relationship building.
• Develop project descriptions for marketing materials and help identify future project opportunities.

• BS in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (7+ years), or MS with 6+ years.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Experience managing multiple water or wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar modeling tools.
• Strong understanding of stormwater regulations, LID, and sustainable site design.
• Experience interacting with state and federal regulatory agencies.

• Pond Water Treatment Plant - PFAS Treatment - Designed an interim PFAS treatment system using trailer-mounted filtration for a 1.5 MGD groundwater facility, achieving non-detect PFAS levels and restoring 1 MGD capacity.
• PFAS Preparedness Study, Sampling Assistance & Emergency Treatment - Completed a preparedness study, then designed and deployed an emergency ion-exchange system in under two months to maintain PFAS6 compliance during peak demand.
• Regional Water Treatment Plant & PFAS Removal - Designed a 12.5 MGD regional treatment plant with sub-aqueous transmission mains and PFAS removal capability, including permitting, funding support, construction administration, and startup.
• PFAS Preparedness Study & Treatment Design - Retrofitted granular activated carbon (GAC) pressure vessels across multiple wells to address routine PFAS6 exceedances, with flexibility for future regulatory updates.
• Water Quality Study & Engineering Services - Completed a water-quality study and designed a 2.2 MGD treatment plant with chemical pretreatment and pressure filters, including provisions for future PFAS treatment.
