Salary and Benefits
Annual base salary for newly appointed Border Patrol Agents varies per grade, ranging from $49,739 to $89,518 per year. This position offers a clear path for advancement through a career ladder up to GS-12 level.
Additionally, Border Patrol Agents have access to exceptional federal benefits, including health and dental insurance, generous annual and sick leave, and involvement in the Thrift Savings Plan.
*Recruitment Incentive* Newly appointed agents can earn up to $20,000 in recruitment incentives, with an initial $10,000 payable upon completion of training, and an additional $10,000 for choosing prioritized duty locations.
*Retention Incentive* Agents may also qualify for up to $40,000 in retention incentives distributed over four years.
