Position Summary
The Senior Software Engineer will be a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field of application analysis and development. The role involves advanced IT concepts and problem?solving, including bug fixes, new features, security enhancements, speed improvements, and code refactoring. The engineer works closely with the Development Manager to align technology strategy, mentor junior staff, and provide remote on?call support as needed. Occasional travel may be required with notice.
Key Responsibilities
- 45% Programming Design, develop, modify, debug, deploy and evaluate highly complex software and scripts; troubleshoot, maintain, and refactor code; build inclusive interfaces; formulate logic and algorithms for new functionality; integrate testing; perform source code integration and release management; enforce coding standards.
- 15% Technical Leadership Collaborate with team members and partners to align applications with organizational goals; oversee performance; enforce project commitments; lead a small team; stay current on technology trends; foster an innovative and inclusive environment.
- 10% Security Participate in security training; contribute to secure architecture design; address security vulnerabilities; keep up-to-date on new vulnerabilities and prevention techniques.
- 30% Analysis & Documentation Perform complex analysis of business and user needs; design or modify systems; develop data/documentation; create flowcharts and technical documentation; translate business requirements into technical requirements; develop conceptual and detailed data models.
Required Qualifications Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in software engineering or a related field.
Required Qualifications Skills and Abilities
- Advanced experience with object?oriented analysis and design, Visual Studio, ASP.NET MVC with C#, SQL, SSRS, JavaScript (jQuery preferred), BPMN 2.0.
- Problem?solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Leading technical teams, including organizing workflow and scheduling assignments.
- Ability to work independently on complex technical projects and within a team of technical professionals.
- Complex problem?solving skills and advanced knowledge of secure software development.
- Highly advanced skills in software specification, design, modification, large?scale implementation and deployment.
- Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions.
- Knowledge of designing, developing, and applying technology and systems to meet business needs.
- Ability to understand functional needs, how systems can support those needs, and to develop conversion and implementation plans.
- In?depth knowledge of various IT areas.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with technical and non?technical personnel.
- Clear and concise communication of technical and non?technical information.
Preferred Qualifications Skills
- Pension and/or pension-related experience within Sagitec Framework.
- Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices, and policies; experience securing server?based software.
- Skill at analyzing and preventing high?complexity security incidents.
- Strong security skills for protecting operating systems, software, data, and hardware.
- Experience in incident response, digital forensics, data collection, examination, and analysis.
- Knowledge of testing application code in client?server environment.
- Excellent project leadership and management skills.
- Experience developing and executing complex test plans.
- Proficiency with AWS Code Commit.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (Kanban, Scrum).
Preferred Qualifications Education & Certifications
- Bachelors degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
- .NET, C#, SQL certifications.
Compensation
Salary Grade: 25
Pay Scale: $147,000 $170,000
Full Salary Range: $101,300 $192,300
The University of California, Office of the President, provides a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The full range shows the growth potential and pay scale budgeted for the position.
Additional Information
California residents, or those willing to relocate to CA, who wish to work onsite, hybrid, or fully remote will be considered. Not eligible for visa sponsorship or transfer.
