JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist Intermediate Preventative Maintenance (PM) HVAC technicians in the performance of preventive maintenance on various types of HVAC equipment throughout the District to provide for the safe condition and operation of all air conditioning systems.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Help or assist Intermediate PM HVAC technician in daily tasks as directed by the technician, lead or HVAC Supervisor.
2. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
3. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
4. Follow established chain of command procedures.
5. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to lead or supervisor.
6. Keep shop, equipment, truck or van and tools in safe operating condition.
7. Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
8. Maintain inventory of District-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
9. Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.
10. Maintain confidentiality.
11. Regular attendance.
12. Follow all District rules regulations and policies.
13. Other duties assigned.

EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Valid Texas Driver's License
• Type Universal Certification per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Federal Clean Air Action Section-608 (within 90 days of hire)

Special Knowledge or Skills:

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Some knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Willing attitude and ability to learn.

EQUIPMENT USED : Volt ohm amp meter, refrigerant Gauges, system test equipment, refrigerant recovery unit, oxygen acetylene torch, hand and power tools, stepladders, extension ladders, pressure washer, light truck or van. Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors : Continual walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching. Working in tiring and uncomfortable positions around equipment with high-speed moving parts. Ability to lift 50 pounds above head. Working in and around equipment panels with high voltage electrical connections. Working with or around high-pressure refrigerants, gas and air lines. Working with or around equipment where combustion of flammable gasses are present. Exposure to dampness, excessive noises, gas lines, extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, toxic and or corrosive chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel. Frequent District wide travel.

PAY GRADE: AUX - 3 - Minimum hourly rate - $16.00
