Cashier/Payment Poster

The Cashier/Payment Poster is responsible for the manual posting of insurance and personal payments to medical claims. Reconcile posting batches to the bank deposits daily; processing insurance virtual credit card payments; image scanning explanation of benefits; researching and resolving unpostables; retrieving explanation of benefits from insurance websites to post to patient claims; and other duties as directed by the Business Office Manager.

Job Requirements

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum Work Experience: 1-2 year's experience of medical payment posting
• Required Licenses/Certifications
• Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical practices; terminology; and reimbursement policies
  • Knowledge of account receivable practices
  • Knowledge of payment posting
  • Skill in planning; organizing; and delegating
  • Skill in evaluating the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures
  • Skill in problem solving
  • Skill in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to read; interpret; and apply policies and procedures
  • Ability to set priorities among multiple requests
  • Ability to interact with billing staff
