As the Glass Recycling (GR) business in North America (NAM) continues its integration into Sibelco following the acquisition, the Legal Director will play a key role in providing broad-based legal support for our GR operations in NAM. This is a true generalist position covering a wide range of matters including commercial transactions, workplace safety and regulations, insurance recovery, customer claims and disputes, employment law, procurement, logistics, CAPEX projects, and governance issues.
Your Impact in This Role
As a Legal Director GR-NAM, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Providing legal counsel on contracts, disputes, employment, sales, procurement agreements, and compliance.
- Assessing risk and liability across procurement, production, quality, and supply/delivery.
- Negotiating and managing contracts (supply, sales, CAPEX, procurement).
- Managing litigation and relationships with external counsel.
- Drafting and reviewing national and international business contracts.
- Supporting process improvement and system-building initiatives post-acquisition.
- Collaborating closely with operations, commercial teams, HR, finance, procurement, and global project teams.
What You Bring To The Table
- Qualified to practice law in the United States (Juris Doctor and admission to a State Bar).
- Significant experience in a large law firm, with a minimum of 5 years in a legal role; in-house experience in an international manufacturing company is a plus.
- Experience in contract negotiation and management, particularly in supply chain, procurement, and CAPEX.
- Familiarity with industrial or manufacturing sectors preferred; litigation experience a plus (not a must).
- Strong commercial acumen and risk assessment skills.
- Pragmatic, business-partner style with the judgement to seek support when needed.
- Excellent communicator in English (written & spoken) with sound interpersonal skills.
- Travel: Occasional travel within the USA and Canada may be required.
