Description:

Job Opportunity: Maintenance Manager

Location: Northeast Houston
Type: Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire

Our client is looking for a Maintenance Manager who thrives in a hands-on, "player-coach" role. They're seeking a leader who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and work alongside their team to drive success.

About the Role
As the Maintenance Manager, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a team of four technicians.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on McElroy equipment and related machinery.
  • Coordinate daily shop activities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Manage inventory of parts and tools to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with other departments to schedule maintenance proactively.
  • Promote a safe, compliant, and productive working environment.
  • Ensure all equipment is serviced and maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program using connected devices and data analytics to monitor equipment, predict failures, and automate maintenance tasks.
  • Assess aging equipment and determine strategies to extend its lifecycle without interfering with operational requirements.
  • Utilize IoT data, if available, to refine maintenance strategies and create a robust preventative maintenance program.
  • Provide leadership in fleet management, ensuring personnel are trained or replaced as needed to meet fleet requirements.
  • Take full autonomy in developing maintenance strategies and purchasing new equipment or parts.
  • Drive cultural transformation by implementing phased initiatives that foster sustainable change, rather than abrupt, disruptive overhauls.
  • Address hydraulics challenges while maintaining an open mind toward electronics.
  • Provide hands-on training and set an example to foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Key Qualifications

  • McElroy Machine Certification is highly preferred but not required.
  • Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining McElroy or similar equipment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate a team.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage shop operations.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Experience dealing with aging equipment and extending its usability while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • IoT experience and the ability to leverage data for predictive maintenance is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of diesel requirements with a willingness to address hydraulic and electronic challenges.

Preferred Experience

  • Supervising or managing a small team.
  • Familiarity with environmental containment or related industries.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication processes is a plus.
  • Experience implementing cultural and procedural change within a team or department.
  • Previous responsibility for developing and executing preventative maintenance programs.

What We're Looking For
Our client needs a leader who leads by example, working shoulder-to-shoulder with the team to achieve goals. The company currently lacks formal training programs, so the ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a structured training approach to upskill the team. If you're proactive, dependable, and ready to make an impact, this could be the role for you.

Why Join?

  • Competitive pay.
  • Opportunity to lead and develop a skilled team while staying hands-on.
  • Be part of a respected organization committed to excellence.
  • Stability and growth potential within the company.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM (with overtime as needed).
