Job Summary:
The Paint Quality Control Manager is responsible for painting activities on Tarsco projects from cradle to grave, including reviewing client paint specifications, putting together coatings bid packages for quotes, soliciting and reviewing bids from painting contractors, and inspection of coatings in the field during construction. Field inspection will include overseeing the inspection and documentation of inspections before, during, and after all coating activities, in accordance with NACE and SPPC QP/QS requirements and training. This role is also responsible for ensuring the end product consistently exceeds customer expectations through the development and implementation of best practice procedures and controls.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overall accountability for quality assurance / quality control of the coating operations within Tarsco,.
- Responsible for compliance with all coatings-specific environmental requirements.
- Write project specific QC plans, as needed.
- Ensure that proper inspection forms and recording procedures are used for job quality monitoring.
- Ensure that work is inspected for conformance with contract requirements, good painting practice and internal QC procedures.
- Ensure that nonconforming work and rework is properly documented.
- Develop and/or review inspection and test plans.
- Conduct and/or review internal shop or field or subcontractor audits.
- Develop, implement, and manage quality controls designed to ensure results in conformance with contract documents and project specifications.
- Investigate and arrange to correct issues and complaints relating to quality.
- Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
- Formulate, document, and maintain quality control standards and ongoing quality control objectives.
- Develop scope of work, review subcontractor proposals for compliance.
- Review Customer specifications and prepare/develop paint plans or data sheets for estimating purposes

- Knowledge of API-650, API 620, API-653, and ASME is desired.
Training/Certifications/Other:
- API 653 is a plus
- Successful completion of the SSPC QCS Course is a plus
- Minimum NACE Level II Certification
- CWI, ASNT Level II or III is a plus
- Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
- Audit certifications/training is a plus
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or similar field could substitute for experience (one year-for-one year).
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in industrial coatings field.
- Prefer experience with water/oil/gas tanks and steel structures
- Procore document control experience is a plus
