About the job:

Seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to work in the Finance & Accounting department of a multinational financial services group based out of Spain.

Job Description:

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and reports, ensure reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis and escalate aged items, obtaining explanations and target dates for clearance of those items.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process.
  • Prepare journal entries for expense-related items of the legal entity, including payroll, travel & entertainment, and accounts payable.
  • Familiar with expense systems (Workday, Concur, AMEX Travel) to create reports for cost monitoring, to manually input invoices into Workday, to develop analysis of expenses by business, product, department, employee, etc.
  • Build a strong relationship with all service owners (Procurement, Finance, Legal, and business lines).
  • Assist FP&A team in tracking/investigating P&L variances by lines of business and product, and track/investigate any variances between budget & actuals.
  • Prepare the monthly results reporting for the P&L as well as reporting by Product and Client as needed. This includes trending analysis and providing explanations for variances.
  • Operational processing of Workday invoices, fundings, reconciliations, and entries. Be familiar with the AP, Finance, and Banking and Settlement modules of Workday. Creation and maintenance of Workday reporting.
  • Operational processes for procurement and project tracking.
  • Other ad-hoc projects and requests, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4-7 years performing accounting responsibilities.
  • Bachelors in Accounting preferred, Bachelors of Finance or Business minimum.
  • Experience in the Financial industry (Banking preferred).
  • Possess knowledge of U.S. GAAP, standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures, and ability to understand and solve complex accounting issues.
  • Experience with Workday Accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas and macros), Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Quick learner, self-motivated, organized, problem solver, analytical.

With respect to this position in our Houston Office, the expected base salary ranges from $80,000 to $100,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
