JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Data Scientist role is a valuable member of the machine learning team in the AI organization, who builds machine learning models, provides statistical analysis and data visualization for different business use-cases. Data Scientist, Senior Staff works on end-to-end solutions as part of a team, develops innovative analytic models and is responsible for pulling and cleaning datasets, evaluating models, and presenting results to key stakeholders. Data Scientist, Senior Staff describes data using qualitative and quantitative tools (interactive dashboards, web pages) allowing customers to easily view and understand important patterns and data trends. Data Scientist, Senior Staff provide quantitative comparisons of data points using advanced machine learning as well as traditional statistical hypothesis testing. Data Scientist, Senior Staff constructs and validates predictive models using a variety of techniques and performs other duties as assigned.

Analysis performed by the position will be shared within Entergy to support the various initiatives that have an analytical need which will ultimately impact Entergy's generation assets, load resources, customer view, or product and services offered to the customer.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as part of the delivery team in developing best in practice machine learning products, meeting strategic business requirements that ultimately enable business units to unlock additional value from company-held data.
  • Handle data from cloud and other sources in a variety of formats (structured, unstructured etc.) and prepare data for analysis.
  • Perform analytics, train models, evaluate results, and deploy models which generate business value.
  • Work with data engineers to produce descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive proof of concepts and minimum viable products to provide valuable insights for business decision making.
  • Collaborate with senior data scientists to acquire and model data required for advanced use cases.
  • Learn and grow their knowledge to move on to more advanced data science concepts.
  • Be a champion for Entergy's AI efforts both inside and outside of the AI organization, promoting collaboration and communication through business unit driven use cases whilst building the Entergy brand in the analytics space.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • A Bachelor's Degree in highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Level II: 2-4 years' experience in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning or similar field.
  • Level III: 4-6 years' experience in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning or similar field.

Preferred experience of the position

  • Experience working in cross functional teams.
  • Experience working in Amazon Web Services.
  • 2+ years' experience working in the electric or gas utility sector.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Proficiency with machine learning tools and software (python, ML-libraries, ML-algorithms).

Technical Capabilities

  • Proficiency in at least one programming languages: Python, with experience in data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
  • Proficiency in SQL with experience in data manipulation, data cleaning, and data extraction.

General Capabilities

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Succeed in a fast paced / highly demanding environment.
